I'm Moving This Week. Godspeed to Myself.

Writing this while wondering if I really need that drawer full of random cords I've kept since 2011.

I promised myself when I started this newsletter that I would put one out every week, no matter what. At least for the first three months (sorry in advance) and then I’ll reevaluate.

That was before I remembered that I am moving this week. So I’ll keep this one brief.

And before you ask, yes of course I’m staying in Jersey City, America’s Golden Door, the home of Survivor Season 28 winner Tony Vlachos, the pride of the East Coast.

I’m just moving a few blocks down. My wife and I found a bigger spot with more rooms, so I’ll finally be out of the bedroom and into a true office space.

*My wife every time I bring out more stuff to pack*

So to keep you all entertained this morning as I furiously finishing jamming all my sh*t into boxes and bags, here are a few things that I’ve found interesting, inspirational, or just plain fun.

See y’all next week.

If you’re into film history or want to know why movies are shot where they are, this video is for you.

I was so happy to see Ran in a beautiful 4K restoration at the IFC Center a couple of weeks back. One of the most stunning movies I’ve ever seen. I highly recommend, especially if you’re into Shakespeare or Japanese cinema.

As the kids say, this movie lives in my head rent free. David Fincher’s The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, is as beautiful as it is visceral. The opening sequence is one of the coolest openings to a film in the past 20 years.

F*cktoys. Yes, that is the film’s real name. This movie is one wild ride, not for the faint of heart. But underneath its sexy facade lies a story filled with heart and compassion. I got to see this at a film festival back in May. Keep an eye out for Annapurna Sriram. As the writer, director, and lead actor, she created something wholly unique and unapologetically bold, while also being an incredibly kind and down-to-earth person.

This ones for the grill enthusiasts. Our new place has a grill in the backyard so me being me, I’ve been watching a lot of these videos. Gotta learn somehow.
